Shiatsu Massage

An ancient way to relax and prevent illness

Massage helps release muscle tension that builds from physical or mental strain. It benefits the skin and improves blood and lymph circulation. Massage is deeply relaxing and an excellent way to prevent illness and restore inner balance.

What is Shiatsu massage?

(Japanese acupressure)

Shiatsu is a healing and preventive therapy similar to acupuncture but uses fingers and palms instead of needles. Shiatsu, one of Japan’s most well-known therapies, stems from traditional Chinese medicine. It is often described as the art of mindful touch, creating harmony between body and mind.

Shiatsu stimulates the body’s self-healing abilities, enhancing its natural life force. When Ki (life energy) flows smoothly through the meridians, the person is healthy. During a session, blocked energy is released by pressing along these meridians, relieving physical and emotional discomfort.

Shiatsu can help with many health issues including stress, fatigue, insomnia, metabolic disorders, back and neck pain, headaches, muscle tension, and joint problems. It is not only therapeutic but also preventative. According to Western medicine, shiatsu calms the autonomic nervous system, reduces stress, boosts circulation, and enhances organ function and immunity.

Shiatsu sessions are typically performed on a mat and ideally last 1.5 hours. Wear comfortable clothes that allow freedom of movement, made of skin-friendly materials. If possible, wear toe socks.

Shiatsu is effective for back pain, headaches, sleep disorders, and anxiety. Read more.
