Pilates
Just like we have behavioral and mental patterns, we also have movement patterns. Becoming aware of them is key to understanding your body and keeping it healthy and mobile. In Mari’s Pilates classes, the focus is on recognizing these patterns.
The training is rooted in the Pilates method, but influenced by various techniques (e.g., Madeline Black Method, barre, ballet, yoga) and physical therapy. It’s not strictly classical Pilates.
Each session begins with releasing tension, followed by a warm-up, strengthening, and finishing with light stretches and balance work. While the entire body is engaged, specific areas—like the shoulders, neck, back, or legs—may be emphasized.

Pilates on the Mat (group/private/duo sessions)
Mat classes include Pilates-based exercises and additional tools (balls, rollers, bands, rings, weights). Sessions combine Mari’s Pilates foundation with influences from various training systems. Each class involves tension release, muscle training, mobility work, balance exercises, and conscious breathing—a full-body approach to health and movement.
Pilates with Equipment (private/duo sessions)
Equipment sessions are for 1–3 people. Mari tailors each session to the individual’s body and needs, using the Pilates system. Suitable for improving muscle tone, joint mobility, balance, general well-being, or rehabilitation after injury or illness.

Mari Kõiv
I’ve worked with the human body all my life. I started training young and spent 15 years dancing ballet at Fouette Ballet School, including a scholarship year at the Joffrey Ballet School in New York. I’ve danced as a soloist both in Estonia and abroad.
Over time, I became deeply interested in how the body functions, how injuries and trauma affect it, and how to heal. Ultimately, the question became: how can we feel good in our bodies? That led me to Pilates, and in 2007 I went to Toronto to study Stott Pilates.
Learning from experienced instructors helped me understand human anatomy and movement. I’ve continued my training with world-renowned teachers such as Madeline Black, Deborah Lessen, Fiona McIntosh, Allie Greene, Michael King, Alan Herdman, Moira Merrithew, and Tom Waldron.
This journey of discovery and learning never ends.
