More About Counseling
The aim of clinical psychologist consultations and psychotherapy is to provide support in facing life’s challenges, in finding alternative solutions, and in making choices and decisions.
You are welcome to seek therapy for various concerns if you wish to better cope with intense negative emotions, insecurity, anxiety, low mood, or distressing thoughts, as well as major life changes (e.g. divorce, job loss, relocation). In a safe and understanding environment, you can share your thoughts and become more self-aware: we will discuss potential causes and try to find the best solutions for moving forward.
Cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) is based on the assumption that a person’s emotional state and behavior are influenced less by external situations or events themselves and more by the meaning and interpretation they assign to those situations or events. Therapy focuses on the present, on the current issue, and on the factors that maintain the distress. It is results-oriented and teaches skills to become more aware of and change automatic reactions.
CBT has been proven effective in treating many common psychological problems and mental disorders. It has shown good results in treating depression, generalized anxiety disorder, panic disorder, social phobia, obsessive-compulsive disorder, addiction and eating disorders, and relationship issues. CBT-based interventions are also effective for enhancing coping and well-being in otherwise healthy individuals.
